Gear Up & Get Out Sale

The annual membership meeting of Denver Field Ornithologists in April has a lively new twist this year. Instead of a Zoom webinar, we will host our first Gear Up and Get Out Sale! -- an in-person-only event on Saturday, April 25 from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the Belmar Heritage Park Visitor Center, 801 S. Yarrow St. in Lakewood.

This combination weekend marketplace and mixer is a great opportunity to:

  • Clear out your closet of gently used gear (birding optics, accessories, guides and books, apparel, etc.)
  • Shop for new and used birding equipment at vendor tables
  • Enter to win a door prize
  • Meet local tour guides to explore your next birding travel adventure
  • Learn about Colorado Field Ornithologists and Greenwood Wildlife
  • Join a a pre-event field trip at Belmar Park before GU+GO
  • Meet your newly elected board of directors and officers of DFO

Got gear to donate or sell? Here's how you do it. Enter your information on the Google form -- OR download the PDF of the form to print and include with your gear -- and answer all the questions. Then, either bring your items with you to Gear Up and Get Out, or drop them off before April 24 at a couple of locations in the area. (Please note: For items valued at $100 or more, you can opt to have DFO sell for a donation commission of 20% of the total.)

Looking for some new (or new to you) gear? Check out the gently used items DFO will be selling (we accept cash, check or credit card) or browse the new goods offered by Front Range Birding. Thinking about a birding tour? Talk with representatives from Reefs to Rockies and Partnership for International Birding.

The pre-event field trip is listed on the DFO Field Trips page. Sign up if you are able to join us.

Cooper's Coffee will be at the even selling coffee, tea, and pastries.

Questions? Scroll to CONTACT US at the bottom of the DFObirds.org home page, fill in the form, check the GEAR UP + GET OUT listing and leave your question. One of our GU+GO volunteers will respond.

Join us on April 25, won't you? Celebrate spring migration with DFO friends and begin birding's busiest season all geared up and ready to go!
