As part of your registration, in order to participate in a Denver Field Ornithologists, Inc. (“DFO”) trip or other activities designated by the Board of Directors, each adult participant and the parent of a minor participant (those under 18 yrs. of age) are required to review and sign (either electronically or manually) a DFO Acknowledgment and Assumption of Risks & Release and Indemnity Agreement (sometimes “Agreement”) Completing this document involves your acceptance of binding contract terms. This online registration system allows you to review and electronically sign the Agreement if you do not have one on file. If you would prefer to manually sign a printable version of the Agreement, you may access it here, and present it to the leader before trip start. If you choose this option, please contact your leader to assure you are signed up for the trip.
Please note: Each person, including each family member choosing to sign the Agreement electronically must login and have a separate account so that the agreement is tied to the individual. If you are having difficulty with multiple logins, please contact us for assistance. *Minors: If participant is a minor, the minor’s parent or legal guardian must print out, review and sign a paper copy of the Agreement and present it to the leader before the trip start. Meet at the Denver Audubon Nature Center parking lot. From C-470 drive south on Wadsworth 4.4 miles.
Turn left at Waterton Canyon Road and an almost immediate left into the Nature Center parking lot.

Habitats to bird: Riparian
Denver Audubon and Bird Conservancy of the Rockiers are developing a pilot fall bird banding project at Chatfield Reservoir this fall. We have an opportunity to learn about the science and effort involved with banding birds to learn about their migratory process. We will meet at the North end of the Kingery Nature Center Parking lot near the outdoor bathrooms at 7 AM. From there we will bird/walk to the banding station approximately 1/4 mile away on an easy dirt path. We will spend an hour or so at the banding station learning about the birding banding process and science and hopefully releasing a few birds. From there we will bird nearby trails, 1-2mile slow walk along the South Platte River and trails associated with the Kingery Nature Center. Wear long pants (not shorts) due to bare-leg-unfriendly plants such as poison ivy, thistles, and knapweed. The trails are all cleared and dirt and relatively easy to navigate. The section from the Audubon Center to the banding station is mobility-limited accessible. The birding section of the trip is on dirt paths that are clear with minimal slope but are not always level.
